University of Graz, Institute of Plant Sciences (UGPS)

The Institute of Plant Sciences is situated in the Botanical Garden - the green heart of the university.

The Centre for Didactics of Biology is the Karl-Franzens-University's competence centre in teacher education for all areas of biology (botany, ecology, environmental studies, microbiology, molecular biology, zoology). It coordinates and organizes the biology-related pre-service teacher education and offers skill enhancement courses for teachers already at school.

Research at the Institute of Plant Sciences covers a broad range - from molecular to ecological fields. The Botanical Garden as a part of the Institute is essential for research and teaching.
